I have twelve years of experience working with children in an educational setting who have had ADHD, Autism, PTSD, Behavioral issues, and Mood disorders. I have experience de-escalating behaviors, teaching practical coping skills, and social-emotional learning skills. I hope to gain more experience in the community mental health setting and further develop my counselor identity as I am in my last year of graduate training in clinical mental health counseling. I was particularly drawn to the Parenting Coach position at Colorado Mental Health Network because of the organization's reputation for supporting families holistically, compassionately, and with cultural competence. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful mission and to help create a positive and lasting impact on the families we serve.
The therapeutic relationship should be collaborative and aid in building client resilience. My theoretical orientation resonates with cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on the client's strengths and empowers them to make decisions that align with their ideal self, utilizing psychoeducation, self-advocacy, problem-solving, and cognitive reframing techniques. It is a privilege to help others along their healing journeys, and I look forward to assisting families in building brighter futures!
